Illustration

So, this isn’t my usual, but here is some of my design work from Illustration I.

This was a T-shirt design assignment. We started with 9 and narrowed it down to three and then one. So here are my beginning nine, and my final one.

i carry your heart

For this assignment, we were to capture a word, expression, poem or lyric in one photo. Furthermore, we were to incorporate these words into the photo. I chose to do the poem “i carry your heart” by e.e. cummings. I love this poem, despite a general dislike for poetry. It reminds me of sepia, pale pink roses, ballet toe shoes, holding hands, and a pale blue sky. I thought that this would be perfect for me to try, and found quite a few romantic vintage pictures that inspired me. Working on this not only tested photography skills, but Photoshop, and general design skills as well. So, here is my final image.

White Balance

Its amazing how much white balance can affect how your photos look. Here are four pictures I took of the same pipe, and the same shutter speed and F-stop, but all four with a different white balance. Each one has a totally different mood. ImageImageImageImage

Color Wheel

Though it isn’t a traditional wheel, these strips are my idea of a color wheel and I used photos to create a photo collage of colors. Here are my beginning 14 colors.

And then here is the finished product, with photos from Pinterest.com

And lastly, here is a color wheel I painted for another class, using basic red, yellow, blue, white and black paint. The outside circles are tints, chromatic neutrals, and shades respectively. It reminds me of the spinning beach ball of death that shows up on my Mac every time I try to do too many things at once 🙂
